Art and photography

Croft Holidays is set in a fantastic location for you to be able to pursue art and photography. There are spectacular views from the cottages and grounds, as well as elsewhere in the Cairngorms National Park. All times of year offer their own appeal, from the bright greens of spring to summer with its purple hues, the gold of autumn and the great winter light with frosty ice formations. Any of the cottages can be used as a base for art or photography. However, Stable cottage is particularly suitable for art holidays as there is non-slip flooring in the living area. Anne is an artist, and the cottages are illustrated with some of her own and other people’s art. These comprise mainly pastel and acrylic landscapes, together with canvas prints of some of Ian’s landscape photographs.

Anne has a studio in Kingussie which can also be used to make larger works of art (see below). There are also several inspiring local galleries for you to visit nearby.

Fused glass holidays
You can learn how to do glass fusing while at the cottages. Anne works in this medium, and she can offer a variety of level of course to suit your needs at her glass studio at Chapel House Arts, 100 High St, Kingussie, PH21 1HY

Courses include a 2-3h jewellery class (£40), a two-hour taster class (£25 adults, £20 children)- a 4-5 hour introduction to glass fusing course (cost £85) (these need to be booked in advance). Examples of Anne’s work are shown in the gallery on this page.
